Chairman ETPB & President PHMMC Visited Mandirs Of Tharparkar

Dr. Atta Ur Rehman, the Chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, along with Rana Shahid, the Additional Secretary of Shrines, and Krishan Sharma the Chairman of the Pakistan Hindu Mandirs Management Committee (PHMMC), visited various heritage sites and ancient temples in Tharparkar. The purpose of their visit was to assess the current condition of these sites and explore ways to better protect and rehabilitate them through renovation.

On September 2nd, 2023, the delegation visited a Jain temple situated in the middle of Nagarparkar town. The temple had recently undergone rehabilitation by the Government of Sindh, but further work is needed to properly care for the temple, as it has often remained locked, causing concerns among visitors.

The delegation then proceeded to the Chamonda Mata Hindu temple, an ancient temple situated on the Chorio mountain near the Pakistan-India border. This temple holds great significance for the Hindu population residing in Pakistan and abroad, as it is considered the most sacred place. The journey from Nagarparkar town to the temple site took approximately an hour, as there is no paved road available. This lack of infrastructure limits religious pilgrims from fully engaging in their rituals. However, the Hindu community has taken the initiative to rehabilitate the temple, adding additional rooms for pilgrims. The caretaker, Kamal Maharaj, shared that hundreds of visitors, regardless of their religious affiliations, visit the temple on a daily basis. The site holds immense potential for religious tourism between the two countries.
